Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native, was born and raised there. Pam, her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father landed an appointment as the curator for The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. She is a 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was a vocal music major. Sullivan began her singing career as a contralto children's choirand a few years later in the adult choir. He was exposed to secular music but was at first limited "I had solo performances in church . Someone wanted me to join an evangelical label when I was 11, but I was not ready to do that," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's was hosting a competition for youngsters in the major cities and I was offered the chance to perform 'Accept What God Does' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". The singer performed along with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at 13. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. She was signed to Jive Records in the year 15. She produced an entire album. The album didn't get released. Sullivan was then dropped by the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for several songs on her first album. One of them is "Backstabbers" of Timbaland that Elliott produced, is a highlight of their working relationship.
